The path widens Everything is wide and open here. The path opens up to a true road, and splits to the west and south. A small hut can be seen off to the east. Several other buildings can be seen on in the distance along both splits in the road. Exits: north east south west A large gnome carved from granite stands here, holding a bronze plaque. Heavy, black clouds are overhead, blotting out the sun. Several half-ogres are here, commanding the gnomes in movements, attempting to evacuate the town as quickly as possible. The wolf sept half-ogres hold an axe that could fell an oak in each hand. Thirron looks about, overseeing the evacuation effort. He holds his father’s grand-axe in his hands, expecting battle. Suddenly, several large, black galleons appear far overhead and descend to an altitude of 30 feet. A man on deck is shouting orders to his men and waving about a saber as Gith pirates and soldiers prepare for battle. Thirron stares into the sky, wondering what theses strange magical contraptions are, then orders, "Get the gnomes out of here!” The Urak’hai warriors lead the gnomes quickly away from the ships, and their Gith abductors. Hyinnis yells at his men, "Ova da sides, meen, quickly now, mateys. Men, women, chilren, all the same. Ah wan slaves!” Thirron shouts, "Hurry!" at his band of Berserks. Hyinnis glances toward the half-ogres. "Men, wetha dey be alive o dead, bring me Urak'hai!" Thirron roars, "To arms, loyal Urak’hai warriors." Gith soldiers repel off the galleons, hitting the ground with their halberds and shields at the ready. The clouds burst open, sending torrents down upon the soon-to-be battlefield. Hyinnis slides down a rope, landing behind his troops and ordering them forward, moving towards the Urak’hai warriors. The wolf berserks start beating their axes together and roaring, their faces painted red for war. Hyinnis screams, "For the sands! Charge!" Two hundred Gith soldiers clad in chain and holding halberds charge into battle. Hyinnis yells, "Their leader is mine!" The one hundred Urak’hai berserks stand their ground loyally and steady themselves for the coming horde. Thirron shouts "Steady, Urak’hai!" The two sides clash, Gith halberdiers and half-ogre berserks start to poor their blood onto the town’s cobbled square. Thirron roars "Some men fall back and take the gnomes to safety, the rest of you, charge!" Fifteen Urak’hai soldiers leave the lines and move quickly backwards, leading the gnomes to safety. The Urak’hai elite charge and the two sides meet with a clash of blades. Hyinnis yells, “Half-ogres! Ye'll be me servents o’ da Gith fa da rest of ye lives!” Thirron shouts, "Better dead then a slave! We won’t be shackled! We would rather die." Thirron roars furiously while swinging his two handed axe, cleaving three Gith through. Hyinnis guts a half-ogre, making his way closer to their apparent leader. Thirron swipes the head off of a Gith pirate. The half-ogres start to gain the upper hand, but then Hyinnis lets loose an ear piercing whistle. The half-ogres stare into the sky, anticipating a hail of arrows of some sort. As the two sides lock in battle, Thirron looks back to see fifty Gith pirates, leading about a hundred hobgoblins, charge down on the gnome refugees, quickly defeating the few half-ogre guards and capturing the gnomes that they do not slay. Thirron shouts, "Damn, all this work for nothing!" He roars and press on hard shouting, "Kill them all!" Hyinnis approaches the man whom appears to leader of the Urak'hai... "Ye fool! Ye've spilt blood tha' needed not be spilt with des battal.” Thirron charges in a fervor of rage, swinging his grand axe over his head like a raging bear. Hyinnis screams "Ah've lost goo' meen an slaves, an' you will pay for it!" and lunges toward Thirron. Thirron roars "Bring the Pain!" and swings his grand axe at Hyinnis throat. Thirron tries to dodge Hyinnis’ lunge but gets caught on the arm. Hyinnis rolls forward, under Thirron's swing, and comes to his feet on Thirron's flank. Thirron looks bewildered and says, "You’re a better fighter than I thought." Hyinnis spins around, attempting to slash open Thirron’s side. Thirron rolls away from Hyinnis’s slash, then rises back to his feet and faces him. Hyinnis grins evilly at Thirron. "Soon ye'll be servin me fo da rest of ye life, ye'll see how goo' ah really am" Thirron roars "I serve none but the Uruk'Hai! I choose death before dishonor." Hyinnis hisses, “Death it is then,” and thrusts his saber at Thirron chest. Thirron swings his axe at Hyinnis head but takes the full force of Hyinnis’s thrust, and falling to his knees and releases a roar of pain. Four Urak’hai elite jump on Hyinnis from behind, stunning him. Hyinnis’s attack falters as two thousand pounds of flesh collapse upon him. Thirron is dragged of the field by his battle commanders as they make their escape. Hyinnis cries for assistance "Mateys, de brutes are o' no honor, help me. Bring me their leader!” While four Urak’hai drag Thirron off the field four more charge after Hyinnis. Gith pirates and soldiers fight to slay the leader of half-ogre savages but are beaten off by his elite guards. While Thirron is being dragged off the field he blows a horn. Out of the bushes more Urak’hai elite charge with crude swords and shields. The Urak’hai roar and bellow as they watch Hyinnis escape with most of the innocent gnomes and some of their comrades. A high-pitched horn sounds and the slavers start to retreat to their ship, quickly climbing up ropes and pulling slaves up gangplanks. The hobgoblin warriors withdraw to their forest abode. Hyinnis yells, "Ye’ll pay fa dis insul, ogre! Knaw me name, Hyinnis Kono Amoramor, an remember it well, fa ah will ‘av me revenge, an ah will send ye to ye graves.” Thirron whispers, "I dare you too, fool, I dare you!” and starts coughing up blood. His captain tells him not to speak. The Gith board their ships and quickly rise into the air, slowly disappearing into the astral plane. The half-ogres prepare to depart the body-littered streets of Shattered Refuge, taking a few wounded with them. The score or so of Gith prisoners are led off in shackles to await their fate.
